Preparing for the Future

From the very beginning we are bantered about the future. About making grown up decisions and taking care of our own kids. It is a never-ending cycle that leads us nowhere. Where do we get off with enjoyment from this cycle? We really don’t. You are told you can be a doctor, a musician, an architect, an astronaut. Those are all things that you could be and that you are told to be, so what are you actually going to choose? In a world of thousands of choices why pick just one, why go down a path somebody else already laid down for you? There is no reason for you must follow that yellow brick road to Oz when you could be taking the red path to your own destiny. The future is always changing and there is always going to be a different end destination.
I grew up in a world where you can make your own decisions and go against what the bigger people say. Sometimes you had no choice but to listen to them but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t by your own choice. There are hundreds of people who have made world changing turns and they weren’t all for the better in our eyes but in theirs they were.
Bill Gates created computer programs in high school and became the richest man on Earth through the development of Microsoft.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a minister who wanted to remove race from government inequality acts.
Nelson Mandela allowed himself to be imprisoned to allow the white and black Africans be together.
Adolf Hitler saw a world of equality, he just saw it through the removal of those with different beliefs. He saw a united and superior front it just wasn’t obtained in the most human way.
Albert Einstein is said to be the greatest physicist of all time who was also a pacifist and fought to remove war.
Ghandi, a political and spiritual leader started as a lawyer.
Karl Marx, sought out equality through communism.
Darwin, denied religion to remain strictly scientific.
Shakespeare, said to be the greatest screen write EVER. But he may not have even been the real writer, his name may have just been slapped onto the covers.
Columbus, found a new world where Europe’s ever growing population could expand but pillaged and raped thousands of natives to gain control of the land.

Everyone should stray from the public’s demeaning eye to find their true purpose. Everyone may have the means but only a few will have the will to do what they feel is best, to do what they feel is right.

A Clean Life for a Clean Start

If something doesn’t seem to be beneficial or what you expected it to be, why keep it? Usually it gets tossed away. Be it a bad copy of an essay, clutter on the floors of your home, or a person in your life who just seems to carry bad juju with them everywhere they go. In complete honesty, for every good there must be a bad so why do we insist on decluttering ourselves and putting only good around in place of the bad? What if it ultimately caused more harm than help? We could be sentencing ourselves to a lifetime of darkness and turmoil without even knowing it!!!
Okay, that is kind of morbid. But seriously. We take experiences and we learn from them for the future. The original instincts of homosapians still kick in from time to time, if you eat bad food you stay away the next time the two of you cross paths. If stealing causes you pain and punishment you generally steer clear of it when the opportunity arises next. But if you were to not retain this information and started without any recollection every day, it would stand to chance that you would repeat the same decisions leading to the same demise.

We are all left to our own choices but think about it the next time you throw away a rough draft of a book report or the next time you cut off ties with that cousin who constantly comes seeking help and betrays you. What if you could learn from them? What if you could turn the ‘bad’ into something ‘good’?

The Start of a New Year and the Start of a *New World*

Every day it’s the same story but a new tomorrow. Every year. Every decade. Every lifetime. Every millennia. Every era. It is the same tale but a new backstory. This is because every second you live and breathe you are adding another detail to your background and that of the world. No matter what you choose to do however you will continue to strive for more. That is exactly why every time you complete another task you immediately form a concept, a desire; to strive for something better than the last. At some point, you would think the human population would conclude that it is an incurable illness but it is just our nature. You cannot help but hope to be the best and get nothing but the best for yourself; granted this ‘best’ is different for each soul.
One moment you are conceived and all you can hope for is to stay in that safe and comforting environment. But then you are thrown into a never-ending spiral of regret and misfortune. You grow up; you learn to walk, to talk, to run, to ride a bike; you take pride in the look of utter contempt portrayed on the faces of others around you. But then it isn’t enough for them. You try to do better to absorb all the never-ending information around you but you can never make anybody happy. And that is the way life goes. Determination over rules your being and pressure becomes overwhelming as you strive for the best. Taking the hardest classes. Putting extra effort into projects. Winning the championship game. Looking like a princess and acting like a warrior. But once that has all been achieved, where does that leave you? Looking for the next best thing. After graduating high school, one of the many rites of passage for a young soul; you go on to college. You try to make something of yourself so that you can get somewhere in life that will support your dreams so you can support the dreams of those to come after you unlike the generation before. When will enough be enough???
               It won’t.
Forever encapsulated in this life you struggle over and over to mold yourself. To mold the world. But there are too many other acts of persuasion working against you. All that is possible is to wish for a bigger and brighter tomorrow. One where you accomplish something you meant to the day before yesterday. Time. Life. Missions. Tasks. Goals. Everything is of your own making and you put the restrictions on yourself.

Don’t be sorry for what you have done or what you will do. Just fight to do better because it is all you know how to do.
