Hello, and welcome to another movie review. This was not a movie I had planned to watch; it was just because I couldn't find other parts of it on TikTok, so I hope you enjoy the summary and the review.
Billy moved back in with his mum after she was in a car accident. She is in a wheelchair and has limited mobility. She gave Billy some money to fix up the attic into a gym. He ends up kidnapping Kelsy when she is out on a run. She had lost her mum and wanted to raise money to make her proud, so she was going to do a half-marathon. He kept Kelsy in the attic for over a year. One day, his mum crawls up there and tells Kelsy to leave. Kelsy manages to convince his mum that she was abducted, and she leaves for her phone that she dropped on the stairs. Billy heard everything. He flushes his mum's arthritis pills away and hides the rest. Kelsy has to do all the chores around the house because Billy thinks she is his wife. Kelsy and the mum work together to try to escape. Kelsy finds her mum's pills and manages to get them to her. When Kelsy and Billy are moving the mum, she scratches Billy. Kelsy then has to give the mum a manicure. Billy doesn't let her finish. He wants to be satisfied and takes Kelsy upstairs, leaving the mum in the living room. The mum pours nail polish remover on a rug, strikes a match, and drops it on the rug at exactly 5pm. The neighbour that the mum is friends with goes out for a walk every day at 5pm, rain or shine. She has hearing aids and hears the fire alarms going off from down the block. They arrest Billy, who tried to escape out the window, and rescue the two women. This movie is much like another abduction movie I have seen before.
I only watched it because I saw a clip on TikTok on one of those pages that never has a part 2 (if you are one of these people, please be better). I needed to know what happened. I am glad they both got out. I will say trigger warning, there is rape in this movie, so please, if you watch it, be aware. It wasn't a bad movie, I just think a lot of things could have been summed up more, since the movie was 84 mins, it could have contained more of the daily life both women had to endure. There were a lot of cuts to black screens, given how long it has been since Kelsy went missing. A few clips of her dad looking upset or lost would have added a little more flavor. Overall, I think it's a 5/10. It was good, and I enjoyed it, but I would not watch it again.
Thank you so much for reading, and if you watch this, I really hope you enjoy it.
