Episode 1 - 8 wants to go back to save Eva, but Cadmus refuses. She tells him she will tell everyone what he did, so he dumps her out of the ship. She lies looking up at the destroyed moon before bashing open her handcuffs and walking all the way to her friends. She tries to get back into New Attica because Eva is dead because of him, and everyone needs to know what he did. 8 climbs up the mountain where New Attica is hidden; she successfully infiltrates the base. Eva stops one of the robots from hurting two boys. She destroys it and unlocks the door to her friends' base. The head of the robot 8 brought back gets hooked up to some computers to hack the cameras and track Cadmus. They catch him in a gondola, and an epic car-chase-type scene breaks out. They successfully catch Cadmus, but he was one step ahead. He was a hologram and traps 8. She accuses him of killing her bug tells her that when she pulled the heart out, everything connected to it died. Cadmus makes an announcement to everyone in New Attica, lies to them, saying the food is dying because of the sanctuary borns, and makes 8 give a speech that he wrote, but she takes over. She tells a story of how New Attica is a prison, and Cadmus is their warden. She turns his words on him. 8 says she is going to use the source as a weapon and use it to kill every alien. We see the world dying and all the aliens looking for life. Eva opens her eyes.
Episode 2 - Eva shoots up, taking a sharp breath in, looking around; she sees all the death and how she has changed. Eva leaves Sanctuary 118 and hears someone calling for help; she saves a baby bird that was trapped and takes it to the walking tree to its mother. One of the flower things opens up and reveals Darius's family member, Arius, who sees what it is. She tells Eva one action can change everything. Eva just has to make a first step. She asks the birds to take her to the smoke in the distance; she finds Faunus and Kit. Eva asks about her sister and Otto. He asks about her hair, and she asks if he likes it. That was a really sweet father-daughter moment. Eva makes it to the queen thanks to Kit and Gargoof, the one who helped get the medicine for Kit. She gets in to see the Queen, but it all goes wrong; they all get arrested. The Queen tells a story about Arius going missing, and then Gargoof helps them escape. They run into Bastille's brother Redimus, and he lends a hand. They need to get the heart into the thermal vent in New Attica so life will return to the world. They get into the human stuff storage room, and Chip, the one friendly tall guard, breaks the secret door to escape. Redimus and Kit hold off the guards as Chip saves everyone but gets crushed with artifacts as the rest of the group escapes. The rest of the tall guards under new leadership are set on completing their mission to retrieve the heart. It's a race against time to see who will get there first.
Episode 3 - Vampa and Otto meet up with the group, and Vampa says he stashed a ship in Lacus. If they can get to the ship, they can beat the tall guards. Lacus lacks colour; this is where the fish races occurred earlier in the series. They confront the trader; on order of Queen Eva, Redimus has to work together to get the ship from Crunkle the trader. Redimus fights for the freedom of the others. They go back to the family who helped them earlier. The family takes them to the ship and gets Otto to haul them in a crate to the ship. They find Haley on the ship hiding; he apologises a lot. Crunkle has one of the parts so the ship won't fly; the part lands in the water, Otto goes in for it, and Eva goes to save Redimus. Everyone is either fighting, saving, or searching. Eva knocks out the guard with the keys, then the ship crashes and Eva drops the keys. She makes a guard shoot at her so she can break the cage open. She air ship gets caught hit the queen jumps off to give a speech to her people to fight back. They cut the airship free. The queen stays behind, and Eva gives the queen her Omnipod so they are both in good hands, as Redimus is staying with Eva. They take off to New Attica.
Episode 4 - Eva tells the group her plan and is interrupted by the whole of the wandering forest walking towards the heart. Every creature is there and exhausted from the long journey. The airship falls out of the sky again because of the part that went for a swim earlier on. Haley makes contact with the sanctuary borns, and Eva hears 8, but they cannot talk about it. Eva runs to them and tells them the heart saved her. She tells 8 everything. 8 tells her she is sick and arrests her. Eva doesn't know about the change in leadership. 8 is running a military camp. Eva gets out thanks to the help of the 4s (Generation 4). Eva finds 8 and realises she is going to kill them all. The sky Whales start moving in, and 8 charges a gun at a mother. It gets hit and makes the saddest sounds any of them have ever heard. It crashes to the ground, creating a tidal wave of dirt and rocks. The poor sky whale babies look so sad; they go to Eva, who tries to ease their pain. 8 holds fire because she doesn't want to hit her sister. She climbs one of the wandering trees to help communicate better; she tells them to stop and not to go to the heart, she tells them to turn around, and the heart will come to them. 8 cannot believe her eyes; all weapons get lowered. The baby sky whales do not want to leave their mother, so two wandering trees carry the body away. 8 announces Project Sunshine is a go. Otto goes back to his family to protect them and says no goodbye. Kit stays to comfort Eva; they have a moment, and then the tall guards turn up.
Episode 5 - An all-out war has broken out. Eva plans to sneak in using one of the spider things with Vampa steering. They manage it and have to fight their way through the compound. Eva talks to Violet, a sanctuary born, and the large aliens break through the compound ceiling. Redimus gets ready to fight the army; he grabs one of the human-made guns, climbs the tall aliens, shoots the rest of the ceiling, and prepares to die. As the group has an emotional moment, he shows up behind them. Eva makes a move up to Cadmus' office, where she believes the heart is. Cadmus is locked up in his office and tells her 8 had him weaponize the heart. He apologises, and she tries her hardest to get him out; he gives her the original omni-pod. She heads up to the top of the pyramid where the heart is, but the antenna she climbed up starts bending, and the heart falls from her hand. She jumps to catch it, and Otto swoops in to save her. After they are on the ground, she looks around; everything is destroyed, and people are trapped. She gets some of her group to help people. She tells Kit she needs to go to the thermal vent; he says he is going with her, and Otto wants to go as well. It was an emotional moment at the end because Kit said, "I lost you once; I won't lose you again." As we know, Kit lost his family, and then he got close to Eva and lost her; she is now back in his life, so this is very understandable and touching.
Episode 6 - The team helps get people to safety, while Eva and Kit on Otto race toward the thermal vent with the heart in hand. Everyone is after the heart: the aliens and the humans in the machines. They get bumped, and Eva drops the heart, and Kit is knocked off Otto. Eva and the aliens race towards the heart. Eva and the alien fight over it, and Eva says You can take the heart, but you need to be a part of it, he reaches his hand to it and practically turns to stone. Vampa and Redimus try to drive the large aliens away. Vampa hops into a gondola with Redimus on top and uses something like a giant magnet to take out the large aliens with the shrapnel around; there ends up being just a few left when Redimus gets hit. Eva crashes and gets her legs stuck underneath the flying vehicle, but the bird she had with her earlier hears her cries for help and comes to her rescue with the sand snake things. They carry her out so she can complete her mission; it seems like almost every creature is there in that moment. They all head towards the thermal vent. Vampa and Redimus are being chased down, but someone comes to the rescue in the Eve-looking ships. It's Haley! Vampa was ready to die, and he just said he loved Haley; it's very sweet. They are all like a family. Eva gets to the vent, but 8 beats her there and points a weapon towards her sister. 8 is so full of hate, pointing her weapon at all the different creatures. Kit runs in at the wrong time, and 8 shoots him. Eva runs towards him. Eva's only father figure ever, and he is dying in her arms. It's hard not to cry at this part. He gives Eva jargum (Gum) so 8 can understand everyone. Eva approaches 8 and presses 8's gun toward her own chest before putting her head against 8's. She sees 8 outside the sanctuary crying after everyone she ever knew was gone, before she knew about the other humans. Eva seems to be able to comfort back then in that moment. Eva picks the heart back up, and before she drops it in the thermal vent, 8 comes over to hug her. 8 tells Eva Obona needs her, snatches the heart away, and drops backward into the pit with the heart. A giant beanstalk-like thing grows from the ground, then more of them appear, creating huge flowers everywhere. Eva wakes up on the pink flower thing in the sky. It makes you wonder if 8 is still alive. She hears coughing and turns to find Kit alive. The view is stunning from up there. We see the queen get her scepter, and everyone is there to see the big occasion. Everyone is peaceful.
Throughout the series, we are reminded there is no them only us, and I really think that is a beautiful message that we could all learn from. With people treating others differently because of skin tone, race, and accents. We should really think of us, all of us. The last episode was so jam-packed with action and emotion I had to take a minute to think about it. I really will recommend this show to people because, with three seasons, it is short enough to get through in a few days if you binge shows, but it is stunning graphically; there is great music; the storyline is amazing, and what is most shocking to me is that it was made by Apple. I am so glad I sat down and gave it the time it deserved, as there are a few seasons' worth of shows I am never getting back that were boring; the storylines could have used work. There were things that had a lot of flaws that I have seen, and I will not get my time back from those, but THIS is worth the time of day. I think it would be hard to find someone who didn't like this show. 10/10
Thank you so much for following the review along; it was a journey of growth both with the characters and plants. I am looking forward to the next thing I find to watch, although it will be tough to follow this one because I love it so much. I do hope you will join me again next Friday, possibly for some more game reviews. Have a great rest of your day.
